M’ville Council said they would replace the Moreton Bay Fig they cut down along The Parade btw D’wich Hill station and Hurlstone Park station. It’s been 10 years since they said they would and they still haven’t.
Thanks for letting me know of this Evan. The problem with the overall canopy is that it is decreasing across Marrickville LGA & we are losing our large trees at a rate of knots.
Hi Jacqueline.
Great to stumble upon your good work. I made an effort to go to a park every day for a year. They were mostly in Sydney, and I got so much out of these little pockets of nature.
I’m in the UK, but still using these parks as inspiration for a little project I’m doing, you might be interested. http://www.meggj.com/advicetoparkusers
Thanks again for your vigilance.

I had a very large eucalypt in my backyard in Middle Street Marrickville which the Council TMO said had been poisoned.
It wasn’t a popular tree of some neighbours and it towered over many adjacent propoerties. Its now woodchip.
I had to have it removed around this time last year.

Hi Jacqueline Thank you for a brilliant website – well done!
There’s an online petition to save cockatoos in Potts Point from culling http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/stop-cockatoo-culls-in-potts-point.html
There’s a very strong precendent for this kind of action – petitions helped save the cockatoos in Broadyway from further culls earlier this year.
Thanks! Katrina
