Marrickville Council has said they intend to remove a Narrow Leaf Peppermint (Eucalyptus nicholii) opposite 102-112 Edinburgh Road Marrickville.  Council gives the following reasons for removal –

  • “The tree has been assessed as a dead tree.
  • Severe borer & insect damage has caused bark separation from main stem, which has disrupted the tree’s vascular ability to translocate water & nutrients.
  • Hazardous tree to public & property.”

Council say they will replace this tree with another Narrow Leaf Peppermint (Narrow Leaf Peppermint), but don’t say when they will do this.

The tree has been dead for quite some time.  I will not be putting in a submission. The deadline for submissions ends Monday 12th March 2012.

Was a great tall & well shaped tree.
