Help rid Goat Island of weeds

Imagine paddling out to historic Goat Island on Sydney Harbour this weekend, 1st & 2nd September 2012.  Then spending some time working with others doing follow-up weeding, maintenance in the formal garden areas, clearing weeds, soil & other material from rock surfaces to expose the rock features, weeding around culturally significant items & clearing rubbish from the old tip area over 2 sessions on Saturday.

Then at 4pm go on a tour of Goat Island’s culturally significant sites before having a barbeque & setting up camp for the night.  The nighttime viewing is from one of the best spots on Sydney Harbour with views of the CBD, Sydney Harbour Bridge & North Sydney.

Sunday is another working bee with morning tea & lunch. At  3.30pm time to pack up & leave the island at around 4pm with a paddle back to Birchgrove Park.

If joining & supporting the work being done by National Parks staff & other Landcare volunteers to keep Goat Island looking ship shape is something you would like to do, contact Jeff Cottrell at willowwarriors@optusnet.com.au or for more information phone 0418 210 347  Read the flier at this Google Docs link – http://bit.ly/Piy6ML
