High up in a Brushbox tree...

High up in a Brushbox tree…

There is a street of Brushbox trees in Marrickville LGA that is very busy right now – with nests all over the place.

To me this is proof that birds need these big native trees.  These are big nests so they must be big birds.  They couldn’t build nests like these in Crepe myrtles, Himalayan ash or Flowering pear trees.  Without these mature Brushbox trees the birds would have needed to go elsewhere & we would have lost all the wonderful things they bring to the area.

I have written about Brushbox trees & their the benefits to wildlife here – http://bit.ly/W9Jh8X

Anyway, this was a great thrill for me when I spotted these nests. Some of these photos may be repeats.  I lost count.  Enjoy.
