Dead & ready for a replacement.

Dead & ready for a replacement.

Marrickville Council has given notification to remove the following trees in Camperdown.

Tree number 1:  Ironbark (Eucalyptus sideroxylon) in Camperdown Memorial Rest Park – opposite 84 Lennox Street Camperdown.

Council gives the following reason for removal –

  • “Tree is dead & presents an unacceptable risk to infrastructure & public safety.”

Council say they will replace this tree with a Spotted Gum (Eucalyptus maculata), but not when they will do this.

Tree number 2:   Weeping Bottlebrush (Callistemon viminalis) opposite 23 Probert Street Camperdown.

Council gives the following reasons for removal –

  • “Tree has major trunk decay & presents an unacceptable risk to infrastructure & public safety.”

They say they will replace this tree, during the 2013-2014 planting season (species to be determined by Street Tree Master Plan).”

I will not be putting in a submission for either tree.  The deadline for submissions for both trees is Friday 16th August 2013council@marrickville.nsw.gov.au
