Once called Murdoch Playground – but without play equipment.  It is a dismal place in urgent need of an upgrade.

Marrickville Council says they will be upgrading Murdoch Park in 2014.  Until recently it was called Murdoch Playground, despite that there was no play equipment.

Council has a budget of $20,000 to do the job & is seeking community feedback “to help develop this small space in Illawarra Road, Marrickville into a peaceful park where people can meet and rest.”

That’s fantastic.  Right now it could be in the running for Marrickville’s worst pocket park.  It will be great to see this space become something useful & hopefully beautiful as well.  Maybe Council would also consider upgrading the Silver Street Playground, just one street over & which also doesn’t have a playground.

There is a community consultation meeting with cupcakes on –

Monday 10th  February 2014

I made a short video of this park in October 2011.  It has not changed since then – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8JDoOScuEc
