The Poles look great here along the river.

The Poles look great here beside the river In Kendrick Park.

Story poles have arrived in Kendrick Park & along the Cooks River between Mackey & Steel Parks.  The latter is also having a seat installed, which will be a great respite for all those who can’t walk along here because of physical restrictions.  Looking at the foundations I suspect it will be similar to the one in Kendrick Park, which is part of the Aboriginal Interpretation Project.  Marrickville Council said there would be three along our section of the river.

The ‘Story Poles’ project is art-work by local students from Marrickville West  & Dulwich Hill Primary Schools, as well as Marrickville & Dulwich Hill High Schools under the tutelage of a local Aboriginal artist.  Unfortunately I do not know the artist’s name.

Well done to the kids who created these.  The Story Poles look great.  In Kendrick Park they look quite dream-like with the barbeque smoke wafting through the shade & patches of sunlight in amongst the Casuarina trees.

I look forward to learning about them & the stories they tell.  More later when this project is completed.

The foundations have been laid for what appears will be a very large seating arrangement.
